WooHoo! Greg and I flew up in one of the COFA C-172s. Greg is a member and
was nice enough to let me take right seat for the flight up!

Here's our camping spot. Pretty much smack-dab in the middle of the North 40.
The show was awesome this year. Among the special attractions was this Pitcarin
Autogyro. It's the only one still flying and wow is it beautiful!
Of course it just wouldn't be Oshkosh without some rain. This year we were graced
with a follow-on rainbow!
This RV-3 had one of the nicest paint jobs I've ever seen. The airbrush work was
really amazing. Even had flames on the spinner and prop.
This awesome De Havilland DH-88 "Comet" replica was also on display.
White Knight II made an appearance. Apparently they had to order some replacement parts
from Aircraft Spruce and have them shipped early-morning delivery due to the air brakes
getting stuck in the deployed position.
New this year was John Monet's latest brainchild...a jet powered Sonex. Cool.
The Airbus A-380 made an appearance. It was surprisingly quiet while doing several flybys.
Man, is it huge! You really don't get the sense of scale until you're
close to it. The tip of that vertical stabilizer is nearly 80 feet off the pavement!
My friend Scott won a really nice right angle pneumatic drill from US Industrial Tool Co.
Apparently he won a die grinder as well the day after! Must have been his year!
I really like these USAF heritage flights. I haven't seen one before with an A-10, F-86, and
P-51.
The Comet made some passes down the runway on Thursday evening.
I hung out with Scott, his dad (Tom) and some of their friends. From left going
clockwise is Joe, Scott, Tom, Chuck?, Pierre, Joe (Jr?), and Joe? (Sr?).
Pierre, Scott, and Tom watched the powered parachutes as the sun went down.
On the way out, Greg and I had to hold in our C-172 while this guy took off in a flight of
three. Sure his plane is way faster and cooler, but at least we didn't have to wear a
pink shirt! :-o
Greg, thanks for flying me to Oshkosh this year. I had a great time and am proud to have
you as a friend.
