So, umm, yeah...that didn't work at all. The silicone stuck to the waxed paper and just pulled right off.

I decided to give the wood filler another try. It made a mess as expected.

...but with some careful cleaning with acetone, it was much better. There are still some voids and irregularities, but perhaps another coat will smooth it out.

While waiting for the first pass to dry, I made an organizer for my sandpaper drawer. This used to be a huge pile of unorganized crap. Now, opening this drawer no longer makes me sad. :-)
