Riveted together some of the little subassemblies.

After confirming the position, I removed a few rivets from the rim in order to rivet on the latch plate.

Here is a view of the latch from inside (and upside down). The latch release isn't installed yet.

Installed the button on the latch release.

After installing the latch release, here is how the button extends through a hole in the side of the compartment. Those little tabs at the top of the latch release lift up the latch to release it.
